Understanding the Dutch communication style can be challenging. We've all heard these cultural stereotypes: the Dutch are very direct, always express their opinions, and have flat hierarchies in their companies. You probably already know this.

In this workshop, we'll take it a couple of steps further: what stands behind these characteristics and how you can use this information to communicate more effectively, whether during job interviews or team meetings.

You will learn about:

• Effective communication with Dutch people in Dutch companies.
• How your own culture differs from Dutch work culture and how to use this knowledge for effective communication.
• Dutch work culture based on five cultural aspects that cause most conflicts and misunderstandings.
• Dutch ways of giving and receiving feedback, organizational structures, communication styles, and perceptions of time.
• Improving your communication with your colleagues and your boss.

The workshop is given by Adelina Potrymay, ze has worked in Dutch companies for the last six years and has extensively studied cultural differences. After facing many cultural challenges and feeling like a misfit at first, she eventually learned to communicate more effectively. She will share tips with you to gain a better understanding of Dutch work culture and improve your communication skills.

Van 8 oktober t/m 26 november 2025 bieden we je een programma met online workshops om stappen te zetten in je loopbaan. Ontdek hoe je met zelfvertrouwen anderen overtuigt, krijg inzicht in de invloed van digitalisering en ontdek je verborgen talenten. Alle workshops worden begeleid door ervaren trainers en coaches vanuit JobOn.

Het programma bestaat uit 8 online workshops die wekelijks plaatsvinden op woensdagochtend van 10.00 tot 12.00 uur. De workshops bieden diverse thema’s. Dus of je nu op zoek bent naar een nieuwe baan, een carrièreswitch wilt maken, een afstand tot de arbeidsmarkt ervaart of anderstalig bent, iedereen is welkom mee te doen. Ontwikkel jezelf en meld je aan!

De workshops zijn kosteloos te volgen voor leden en niet-leden van de bibliotheek. Aanmelden is verplicht.
Je kunt je voor elke workshop apart aanmelden.

De activiteiten vinden online plaats via Zoom. Na aanmelding ontvang je voorafgaand aan de workshop een bevestiging met een Zoomlink. Om deel te nemen heb je alleen een laptop nodig met camera, microfoon en een goed werkende internetverbinding. De bibliotheek helpt je waar nodig.
